CPC Faction Hails Tinubu Calls for More Inclusion among APC Members

The Progressive Patriots of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), a faction within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it called a befitting state burial accorded to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking at a world press conference in Abuja, the group’s National Coordinator, Athanasius Okon, said the gesture by President Tinubu reflects loyalty, leadership, and a commitment to the progressive ideals shared by both leaders.
Okon recalled that President Tinubu had earlier sent a high-level delegation, led by Vice President Kashim Shettima, to visit the late President Buhari during his medical treatment in London, a move the group described as a show of solidarity and respect.
The group also acknowledged the President’s recent appointment of Senator Tanko Al-Makura, a prominent CPC figure, as Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), describing it as a welcome recognition of the CPC legacy within the APC.
However, the CPC Patriots used the occasion to call for greater political inclusion urging President Tinubu to extend more appointments to CPC members and formally requested that the position of APC National Chairman be zoned to the CPC bloc.
